Field trip to Okrasa Čadca 2026

On March 31, 2026, students of 3.A and VI.OA went on an interesting field trip to the Okrasa production cooperative in Čadca. The visit gave them an insight into the traditional production of Christmas ornaments and the process of making them, from the initial design to the finished product.

The Okrasa production cooperative is one of the leading Slovak manufacturers of glass Christmas ornaments. It is known above all for its handmade production, which preserves traditional craft techniques. The ornaments are made of glass and are hand-blown, silvered, painted and decorated using various techniques, which makes each piece a unique original.

During the trip, the students could see the individual stages of production directly in the workshops and learned many interesting facts about the history and present of this craft. The biggest highlight, however, was the creative workshop, where glass hearts had been prepared for them. They could paint them according to their own imagination and take them home as a lovely souvenir of the day.

On the way home we stopped in Stará Bystrica, where we looked at the Slovak Astronomical Clock. This short stop was a pleasant addition to the trip's program, and the students had the chance to discover another interesting feature of the region.

The trip was not only educational but also great fun and creative for the students. We believe they took away new knowledge and good memories.
