"Writing is and act of hope."
“Writing is an act of hope.”
(I. Allende)
As part of the Cultural Diversity Days, the fourth annual presentation of GJAR students' own writing in English (or another language) took place on 29 October.
Creative writing fosters a sense of authorship and helps students trust their language skills. It allows them to explore their feelings, experiences and identity in another language, which also makes learning itself more meaningful.
In a pleasant atmosphere, the students had the opportunity to share their creative work, talk more about what inspires them when writing and receive feedback from their classmates and English teachers.
Poems and opening passages of short stories in English, and in one case also in Slovak, were presented by Ján Šmatko, Ema Michelčíková, Ema Bunganičová, Natália Markušová and Michaela Sekeráková.
We thank everyone who took part and are already looking forward to next year!
Here is a taste of our students' own writing.
