Mgr. R. Frenák and the mysterious slime molds

Lecture: Slime molds

On November 4, 2025, a lecture on slime molds took place as part of biology lessons. They are a group of relatively unknown organisms that combine features of plants, animals and fungi, and the possibilities of their practical use are still being discussed.

The lecturer was a doctoral student of the Institute of Biology and Ecology of the Faculty of Science of UPJŠ in Košice – Mgr. Richard Frenák, a graduate of our school. Besides basic information about slime molds, he presented ideas for activities that allow them to be studied in their natural environment as well as after cultivation in artificial conditions.

The repeated lecture, a follow-up activity of the program European Researchers' Night – visit your school, meet your scientist, was attended in turn by fourth-, third-, second- and first-year students and quarta.

We thank the young scientist for his expert lecture and wish him every success!
