Admissions procedure

Based on Decree No. 292/2019 Coll. (Decree of the Slovak Ministry of Education setting the criteria for determining the maximum number of first-year students at secondary schools), the number of first-year students for the admissions procedure for the school year 2026/2027 at Gymnázium Jána Adama Raymana has been set at 92 students (field of study 7902 J 00 grammar school – 2 classes, field of study 7902 J 05 computer science – 1 class) in the four-year program and 26 students in the eight-year program (prima).

Gymnázium Jána Adama Raymana takes part in the experimental piloting of the field of study 7902 J 05 grammar school with a computer science specialization, based on the approval of the proposal by the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic dated 28.11.2023, effective from 01.09.2024.

Important information on admission to secondary schools under § 63 and § 65 of Act No. 245/2008 Coll. on Education (the School Act) and on amendments to certain acts:

  • The applicant, or the parent or legal guardian of an applicant who is a minor, submits the application to the headteacher of the primary school the student attends. The application to secondary school must be submitted by February 20, 2026. The application states the date of the entrance exam.
  • After discussion in the school's teaching staff council, after the opinion of the school board and with the consent of the founding authority, the headteacher of the secondary school determines the number of students who may be admitted to first-year classes and the dates of the entrance exams. This information is published by March 31, 2026.
  • Entrance exam date: 4. 5. 2026 (1st date) or 11. 5. 2026 (2nd date)
  • Exam format: written
  • Core subjects: Slovak language and literature, mathematics.

This information applies to both the four-year (7902 J 00 and 7902 J 05) and the eight-year program at Gymnázium Jána Adama Raymana.
