The “Fermi problems” competition

Our students showed their skills in the international competition Fermiho úlohy (Fermi Problems), organized by the Faculty of Science of Palacký University Olomouc. The essence of the competition is to make quantitative estimates of solutions to highly complex problems based on minimal input data.

The students solved two sets of problems published for the first and second semesters, on the basis of which they qualified for the final. Two of our teams successfully advanced to the final contest:

  • Team A: Filip Fekete (quinta), Sebastián Holovič (quinta, mental coach), Hugo Kováč (quinta), Michal Revický (quinta), Jakub Vrabeľ (1.A)

  • Team B: Stela Palenčárová (quinta), Petronela Palenčárová (sexta), Samuel Ján Saraka (3.B), Simeon Dan Saraka (1.B)

The final took place on 19 June 2026 in Olomouc, and our students achieved an outstanding success:

  • 1st place: Filip Fekete, Sebastián Holovič, Hugo Kováč, Michal Revický, Jakub Vrabeľ

We warmly congratulate all our successful physicists and thank them for representing the school so well!
