  • Chronicle 55

Throughout the school year, our school was alive with a wide range of traditional and less traditional events. Social life – the Charity Concert, the School Ball, ... – alternated with sport, experiments in science subjects, games, field trips, competitions, student council events and activities during Raymanov týždeň (Rayman Week). But we did not think only of ourselves: we also took part in traditional fundraising collections – Deň nezábudiek (Forget-Me-Not Day), Biela pastelka (White Crayon), Deň narcisov (Daffodil Day) – and supported one of our students by collecting PET bottle caps all year round.

Take a peek into our chronicle and let us remember together the unique moments of this school year, documented by 3rd-year students as part of their final projects on the topic of sound and graphic information in computer science lessons.

  • Brightening up the computer science classrooms

In computer science lessons, second-year students created interesting and imaginative posters that not only complemented but also brought to life the computer science classrooms. Students of 2.D presented the rules that apply in the computer science classrooms in an engaging way. Students of 2.A created an unconventional map of the World Wide Web and creatively linked computer science concepts related to information, hardware, software, graphics and computer networks.

  • Video tour of the school

Haven't visited us yet? Then at least take a peek through your screen. You will find out what the corridors of our school hide and see spaces an ordinary visitor never gets to (the cardio center, the gym, the knižnička – the little library (no, that is not a typo),...). And when you next come to see us, you will feel right at home.

For the school's students, let this video tour be a challenge – not all of our spaces have been documented on video yet ... will you fill in the gaps?

  • Šariš–German–Slovak dictionary

Can knowing the Šariš dialect be an advantage when studying German?

If you are hesitant to answer, perhaps the Šariš–German–Slovak dictionaryPDF · 1,2 MB will help you find the answer. The original dictionary, created in the school year 2000/2001, was expanded by students of the school in 2007 with another 105 words; the dictionary now contains 440 words in total. In addition, it includes a list of surnames of German origin taken from our town's telephone directory.

As the authors say, it is a challenge for other students of the school, who can keep building the dictionary. Are there any brave volunteers?

  • Days of Cultural Diversity - 24 to 27 October 2016

In October, Gymnázium Jána Adama Raymana holds the Days of Cultural Diversity. The school is decorated with characteristic features of individual countries. Students can dress according to the country chosen for the day, get to know that country's culture, or prepare or taste something from its typical cuisine.

As part of the event, students create presentations on selected topics. Here is a taste of two of them:
