Our school has joined the Mladí reportéri pre životné prostredie program (Young Reporters for the Environment, YRE) – an educational program of the international Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), intended for young people aged 11-25.
Our task is to choose one of the environmental topics offered in our region and develop it on the basis of scientific sources and communication with all parties concerned (authorities, companies, citizens, etc.), then present our findings and our own proposed solutions to the general public in journalistic form (photograph, article or video). Participating students have the opportunity to attend specialist workshops and field trips. The program is professionally supported by the Slovak Syndicate of Journalists.
More information is available at: http://www.mladireporteri.sk/o-programe/o-nas or from the Eco-Schools coordinators.

Brine leaking from a wellhead in the Solivar area: the valve was stolen and the well was mechanically damaged, so brine escaped into the surrounding terrain. Unsecured and destroyed wells are a reminder of human indifference to the environmental burdens of the past. - If you don't know, don't be afraid to ask
We showed the residents of Sabinov that they can ask questions and get answers. They had many questions, and they were about waste. - Tears of nature
Slovakia has no shortage of environmental burdens, and the Solivar area is one of them. Although the problem is talked about, no solution has been found. Brine leaking from unsecured wells destroys soil, infrastructure, and both groundwater and surface water. Neither residents nor experts have been able to make the responsible authorities intervene. - Salt above all problems
